Pick the right entry

Elden Ring is the modern starting point — open world means you can leave when stuck and return stronger. Easier mental model than older Souls.

Sekiro is the hardest; it punishes everything-but-mastery. Don't start there. Bloodborne is fast and aggressive — middle ground.

Use the systems the game gives you

Summon NPCs and other players for boss fights. The game lets you. Not 'cheating' — it's a designed mechanic.

Level up. Older Souls fans will tell you to 'git gud' — modern games include leveling for a reason. Use it.

Patience is the actual mechanic

Most deaths come from greed: one more attack, one more dodge. Learn the boss's pattern, hit during clear windows, retreat for healing.

After 3–4 attempts, the boss starts looking slower. Your skill ceiling rises by encounter, not by game.

FromSoftware doesn't include difficulty options. The game is the difficulty. Mods exist on PC.

How long are these games?+

Elden Ring: 60–100 hours. Dark Souls 1: 30. Sekiro: 30. Most are completable in a month of regular play.

Do I need to play them in order?+

No. Each is self-contained. Lore connections are deep but not necessary for understanding.
