Pick shorter ones first
Average length matters: Final Fantasy XVI is ~40 hours main story; Persona 5 is 100+. Pick from the shorter end if you've left games unfinished.

Skip side content guilt-free
JRPG side quests are often padding. The main story is usually well-paced; sides exist for completionists.
Pick one type of side activity you enjoy (e.g., character romance, monster collection) and skip the rest. Total enjoyment goes up.
Use guides for stuck moments
Spending 2 hours stuck on a puzzle when you have 4 hours of gaming time per week kills momentum.
Looking up a single answer to keep moving is fine. Pride is the enemy of finishing.

Should I play in short or long sessions?+
JRPGs reward 1–2 hour sessions. Less than 30 minutes feels like nothing happened; more than 3 hours blurs.
What if I drop one halfway?+
It's OK. Some games don't click for some people. Move on; the next might be the one.
